The season starts Monday

Officially practice starts Monday, but like most teams we have been working hard during the off season too. We had two wrestlers extend last season into June by wrestling freestyle with the Bones Wrestling club  out of Valley. Kenny McKeag and Luke Murphy both had their first taste of freestyle. Kenny also spent part of the summer at the Mat Factory in Lower Burrell. We look forward to seeing the improvement in these two as they take their skills to the mat starting Monday. Also we have had a good group meeting since October during preseason workouts. Devon English, Ryan Slebrich, Sean English and football ended we have had many more. Stay tuned as we introduce our wrestlers and coaches during the first week of practice.

Dog days of summer

July is almost over, there are still vacations ahead,  7 on 7 football is in full swing. What are you doing to prepare for the season. If you are a multi sport athlete congrats!!  You are training your body and staying in shape. If you don't have a fall sport then you should be involved with a club team. You need to constantly stay on top of your training. What you do now will determine how well you do in season. Everyone needs a break and if you haven't had one yet take one now. Once school starts you will start your routine again. So stay busy to finish out the summer and enjoy it.

Who makes up Riverview Wrestling

For those who have not followed the program or the sport for a while let me catch you up. We have an agreement where students from Riverview and Springdale wrestle for our program. So if you live in Verona, Oakmont, Cheswick, Harmar, Springdale twp, Springdale boro or Harwick  this is YOUR program. I am sorry if I left out a town, let me know if I did. Our school program starts in 7th grade and at times we will run elementary clinics. But for younger kids we encourage you to join other programs. We have current elementary wrestlers in the Burrell, Penn Hills and Plum youth programs, as well as some clubs.

Restarting the blog

We are starting the blog up again to gain a closer look into the program. You will see spotlights on current wrestlers, coaches and those helping the program grow. We hope to add videos and interviews as well. If you have any suggestions please let us know. Hopefully this is up and running without any problems by the time school starts.  Thank You.
